Daily Dose of WTF?

Yeah. Hectic storms. Good delta for rice but the city keeps concreting over the paddies so more and more hard surfaces all funneling into river.

Its crazy how many klms away from that river ppl live and have canoe/boat lashed to hut. In the dry season as a traveler it looks weird cos your seemingly a long way from water then you notice the waterline stains above your head on everything.... I have been there in low season but coastal and still that 2-3pm storms were memorable. One in particular on the ocean and we were battered so hard the frame holding the engine broke on both sides so longboat stalled and was sideways. Boatman was hypothermic holding fkr up while i hammered the rusty pipe into a taper and did some jiggery with ropes Not so bad when your an aussie that can swim. Bad for the local muslim fishermen on board. They were crying and wailing and in a foetal position as the water blasted them. Everybody lived and all was well and we emerged from a wall of black to a fairly ravaged coconut battered bay. All the other boatmen were looking at us like ..how?...why?!...My fare....thats why.

Awesome and terrifying! Im just a little envious, fond memories of Nakhon Phanom and Thakek though u could be anywhere along that river! Small lightning is so cool. I used to work until late at night and could walk home and on foggy nights there were places where small isolated blue flashes would occur within the fog nearby. Im a huge electric universe fan so it wasnt too odd but suprisingly many people when i would mention how magical it is wouldnt believe me.
