Toxic Cat Roams Japanese Streets
Residents of Fukuyama are being warned to stay away from a cat that fell in a vat of poisonous chemicals.
Security footage captured a cat leaving a trail of yellow paw prints, walking away from the container of chemicals.
The cat is thought to have gone into a vat of hexavalent chromium, an acidic and carcinogenic chemical.
"The incident woke us up to the need to take measures to prevent small animals like cats from sneaking in, which is something we had never anticipated before," a spokesperson for the company said.
The cat may have already succumbed to its suspected injuries, but residents are still warned to stay away from "a cat that seems abnormal."
