Yep. Best forum around and I love to see so much activity lately. I've met so few of you in person but you all mean a lot to me.

I stack for a myriad of reasons, but ultimately, I do it for my family! And It's comforting to know that if anything were to ever happen me, I know in my heart of hearts this community would be there to help them manage the "re-allocation" of my stack. I do not doubt or question the moral compass of anyone on this forum. As someone who values honesty and integrity above all, and in a world full of self-serving parasites, I cannot express how important you all are to me.

Christmas morning miracle.
8kg southern bluefin tuna on 6lb line on 4-6lb rod from inflatable kayak.
It carted me around for over two hours & 3 km out to sea.

Something like the miracle of the multiplication, I fed many strangers (way too much sashimi for my wife and I).
An experience I’ll never forget.

^^^ That story reminds me of when I was working in the Solomons as a tour guide Dive instructor on an island called Gizo! Anyway, one of the locals went fishing in his canoe dugout log as they do and went missing for 3 days without a sight of him from many eyes on the water from the local travellers the Gizo community thought he was lost at sea and as they do have a big funeral for family losses, as preparations were being prepared by the locals for his afterlife sendoff this dude is spotted in the lagoon with his canoe! All of the locals at the open-air markets raced down to the coral water edge to find out what had happened ... well this fisherman had caught a tiger shark about 10 feet long on a handline towing him around for 3 days and he was not going to let it go 😀 I was there when one local grabbed this fish by the tail in shallow water only to be rag-dolled a few times with a thrash of its tail funniest thing I have ever seen. It was close to 5 minutes and the shark was all cut up and gone. Man I miss those islands
 
the shark jaw, bigger kids loves to hang it around their neck. sadly it was burn to crips during a house fire
that fish was a few days struggle to bring home

More to the point what lure did it take? A redhead? It must have been casting as those inflatables are slugs in the water for trolling speed

Bicheno Tasmania. A very beautiful little seaside town. Crystal clear waters full of big crays.
4 inch bent minnow white/chartreuse with a white bait fly trailing. That lure is now retired to be hung in the house.
The OSP bent minnow is a brilliant lure with a fantastic action that works on a variety of species. I definitely chanelled Hemingway as I started talking to the fish, desperately trying to talk it into submission.
I had no right to land the fish. Everything was against me. Divine intervention perhaps.
 
My wife was in bed & I told her I’d be 1/2 hour to an hour. I’ll just go and pick up a couple of salmon (hopefully) for the smoker from the kayak.
She got up later & I was nowhere to be seen, till she went to the point & looked out to sea. She said I was gone for about three hours, but the battle lasted about two hours plus the hour to get back in against the current. My daughter was very unimpressed with my recklessness.
