Welcome

Thank you for the acceptance and warm welcome.

As an introduction...

Hi all,

I have a doctorate in organic chemistry and am now a specialist senior schoolteacher across math and science. I regret not following my teen fantasy of becoming a geologist - I'd probably be much wealthier if I did.

My family have always enjoyed combining outback camping with a good fossick and on occasion have been lucky. Consequently, we have always been interested in bullion and being bullish have been stacking excess wealth in metals for over 30 years. Whilst Gold has been the standard for millennia its recent stellar climb has left us pondering why other metals, based on their relative abundance, have not. Now it seems things are rebalancing.

Silver has long been a personal favourite for me, mostly because it was affordable and has a variety of industrial uses. However, I believe the recent rally has priced 100-ounce bars beyond most consumers, so I am looking to hold smaller weights and possibly diversify by trading into Pt and Pd. This Forum attracted my attention because retail buyers love to sting investors (ABC presently buying @ -20% spot) who are trying to sell. I am simply looking for fair trades and wish to avoid being scammed. Hopefully this is "Silveroo"

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Great intro and it's nice to have you onboard.

Your situation re: 100oz bar is the exact reason I focused on stacking 1oz coins. I lost a bit of silver in the premium but gained liquidity and fractional options. I offloaded most of my kilo bars too and now only hold 500g and 10oz in bar form. Even kilo bars will become hard to move as the price increases.

It may be worth seeing what BullionNow in Melbourne are willing to pay. Boycott ABC, they're rubbish. There'll be a few dealers willing to pay your -2% spot asking price as silver becomes harder to obtain.

Me think to own a 100oz ag does not hurt , there are always richer persons around.
Primary coins would be some junks and government issued bullion coins. Then small bars etc.

@Aslan 68 - I've just realised when you said ABC is currently buying at -20% spot you were referring to the difference between their buyback price and buy it now price.

ABC has a $4 inflated spot price over actual spot right now and a massive premium on all of their silver products. Their buyback price to actual spot price on 100oz bars is approx. -5% (e.g actual spot is $16,300 and buyback is $15,400).
