SILVEROOS CUSTOM MINTED ROUNDS

I'm a graphic artist so maybe set up a poll with multiple options and once decided on the most popular idea I could mock up a layout for everyone to look at and approve which them could be submitted to SBA.

That's such a nice offer and would be extremely helpful to the cause. Thank you Jonesy!

So design #1 with the Silveroos logo is a clear winner. Now we just have to figure out and agree upon out the final layout.

Should we keep it simple and have Silveroos.com at the top and 999 down the bottom, or do we come up with a forum slogan to put on there?

Also, remember that I'm just a Silveroos member just like you. I do not, nor do I wish to have, any authority over any decision made. All I've done is move forward with an idea that another member had (I forgot who, sorry) to get some custom Silveroos rounds/bars made for the forum.

With all that said; I'm excited to be a part of this. I think it's a great idea and I'm thankful to all of you for getting involved. Once these rounds are minted, they will represent us as a community, the times we live in and the shared interests that brought us all together.

Make these rounds a talking piece and issue them as a half yearly or annual collectible.
Keep mintage numbers to a low of 500 and charge a $3 - $4 premium above the cost price. Half to cover the cost of making the dies and half to cover the cost of running Silveroos.
Limit these rounds to a maximum of 10 rounds per member so everyone has an opportunity to buy some.
I like the Silver Shields series with their 'message with humour' themes
So it would be great if a bit of dry humour is incorporated in the Silveroos Rounds.
I propose a theme such as "The Great Escape" or "Freedom from Censorship".
The image I propose is that of a Kangaroo leaping over a barbed wire fence. The razor-sharp barbs of the wire are shaped in 'ss' which represents a forum that we associated with censorship and pain. The barbed wire fence has snapped and twisted into the word Censorship. In the distance, a corpse of trees and shrubs forms the word Freedom.
I like hidden symbols in the artworks I collect, so if Jonesy can incorporate them within the design without them being too obvious, all the better.
Anyway, that's what I think would be a winner!

I like the idea of half oz.
My input for design idea would be on the date the design is finalised put that date and the spot price in AUD somewhere on the coin,  if it becomes a annual thing it would be really cool to have a coin that recorded the fiat price.

^^^ adding a strike price to a round I believe would not be a good idea! Because the silver price in the  markets is so volatile. Silver is prone to uncanny spreads between  physical  and paper versus premiums. To new investors looking at a strike price and actual price on markets might be too confusing for them when a seller wants the premium for the round. If you get what I  mean .

Maybe it might confuse newbies to metal, but I doubt the people who would be in the market for such a niche silver round commissioned by a forum would be confused.
It might be the case that the spot price doesn't go up at all, and premiums blow right out, that would also be interesting to record on a coin imo.

Sure! I agree it would be unique.  But it would be embarrassing if you had a strike price of say $35 on the round per ounce and silver then went to $25 as an example! As Steve indicated earlier in this thread  about hiding symbols maybe etch a strike price in some wierd place on the planchet? I don't really care to be honest. Just my 2 cents worth

Some interesting thoughts here. I think we should just stick to this round and consider other options once we've tested the waters.

If we ever want to go down the path of making new designs every 6 months or so, Toni Peterson is in direct contact with Duncan Brown who is currently doing the art and sculpting for Silver Shield. You can find him on FB under Duncan Brown Art. He seems like a great bloke who's passionate about his creations.

I have never been on this site on a PC before now. I really like the layout and I'm seeing the forum name 'Silveroos' next to the Kangaroo for the first time, along with some other features. The site looks great! It's very different to the mobile version.

The discussions on the silveroos round have slowed down. I think we may be signing ourselves up to a lot of work and may not achieve the results we desire if make the design too intricate and detailed. Nice art doesn't always look good on a coin/round. At this stage, everyone agrees to have a round with the Silveroos logo. Does everyone agree to have the Website address on the round, too? Do we use the same layout as the desktop version of the logo, or do we just use the kangaroo?

^^^ I'm happy with that.  Have you asked admin if it's OK to use  the logo?

Absolutely. I have sought approval from Will throughout the entire process.

I just put the logo in an online badge making site so we can visualise the design. There's plenty of room to add more to it. I just added the 999 and stars to fill in the space at the bottom

It's very plain! Give that sucker some ground to bound on with a barbed wire fence behind it . Maybe push the .999 to the left and add silver to the right of it?

Certainly not what I would suggest to be the finished product. If you can't tell, I have little to no design skills. Adding anything other than text and basic symbols is beyond my capabilities and that of the badge making app I used. The purpose of posting this was just to display the logo on a round to visualise it.
