we have record low un-employment and most countries outside of Australia also have low un-employment, if they can get employment in their own country there is no reason to come here, plus its expensive to live here.
job seekers have allot of options world wide, right now so they are going for higher paid or easier jobs.
we forced the fuckers to stay here for two years where they couldnt return home, and we stopped them from coming here for two years, so Australia is not really an attractive place right now, the ones that were here left and never came back when borders opened.
and lets face it the only reason our government wants migrants right now, has nothing todo with employment, its the laziest trick polis have to create growth to look good on the books, bring in people so they can say look how good GDP is going.
Also drives up house prices and protects their housing portfolios when they bring in migrants to compete against Aussies for housing.
Houses to expensive for locals? bring in migrants who can afford them lol
But thank fuck the migrants arent coming here right now, I mean where the fuck are they going to stay? we are in a rental crisis right now. make our homeless problem worse if they did, actually that might be another reason they arent coming here as they know they cant find housing.
As for locals, most locals arent doing hospitality as its long shit hours for average pay, and they can get better paid jobs for less work, I mean bosses are now offering jobs to people with less skills, now due to shortages they are now training people again who didnt have the skills, where as before bosses picked only skilled workers. So good job positions are opening up for people, why make coffee when you can finally get that office job you wanted?
you also have to wonder how many boomers took the opportunity during covid to finally retire. Im sure we all know a large number of boomer friends and family who have retired in the last few years, thats allot of people out of the market making way for young blood to get those easier higher paid jobs.
and because there is low un-employment in many other countries, the same reason we arent getting foreign workers we would be finding our local workers are getting poached from over seas employers.
