My take on this is i hate paying so much for a service that more often than not is subpar and is difficult to distinguish between quality trades and garbage.
However, for years trades have been looked down by the cult of "go to university for your arts degree " and now basic economic supply and demand comes into play.
So if you want a service that has greater supply than demand you have to compete on price. This will come back to fair pricing soon enough as enough people enter the workforce and skill up due to the lure of $$$

Oh I'm happy to discuss the issue of nickel mining in Indonesia, just thought it was off topic here.
It actually makes my previous point, western companies cannot exploit these resources as the environmental cost is to high and any company that tried to would be attacked financially in its origin country.
China on the other hand has no compunction with wrecking havoc on the environment and local population with the assistance of a compliant government.
We have far great environmental protections and human rights in Australia so cannot compete at there cost.
10 to 20 years from now there will be documentaries about how this destroyed Indonesia's environment and why.

Trades ! - was an exclamation about just lumping " Tradespeople " in with Pedos. Pedos in every area of life.
Reference to the " Holiest " is because AUS has been rocked time & again by stories of Pedo Priests. The clergy have had an outsized role in Pedophilia.
Tradespeople charging, what the public perceive as excessive pricing, is just due to the fact that 90% + of the general Public have no Idea of the pricing structure involve in Trades/Business.
Eg, I had a licensed pest controller com here yesterday. So a trained Technician/Tradie. Fucking rats in the roof. Anyway, 35 min & 10 min for report/billing. Plus travel - say an hour. Cost was $235 AUD. I'm fine as I understand trade pricing & Biz structure. But to someone on $25/hr - $235 might, to them, seem excessive. To them the guy walks in 35 min walks out for $235. They only make $200 for a full 8hr day. Their thought - fucking ripoff trades/biz people.

Females have NO trouble learning everything there is to know about Fashion, Cosmetics, Gossip ( who's fucking who ), etc.
If they put the same effort into learning a few other " relatively " ( at least in my view ) important areas maybe they wouldn't pay " $3k "
Somewhat related. A guy will pay $25 for a standard haircut. They will baulk at paying more. Women will pay $125 for standard hair cuts. Why ? because the 99.99% of female hairdresser know that's what women will pay
If women just baulked at that price, hairdressers would have to charge less. Ahh, women !
