For Sale: Spectacular Vintage Medal 1929 in Red Leather Case. $100 + $10 postage.
The medal is made from white plaster or bisque porcelain, featuring a high relief design. This is enclosed in glass and held in by a silver (no hallmarks) border rim which is engraved R Norman Fulton 1929. The medal is huge, nearly 6cm across and weighs in at a hefty 125 grams. It is protected in its original case branded John Pinches London, who were well known medal manufacturers of the era.
The text on the medal is: Orpheus seated right with lyre, naked youth standing at right- engraved by Thomas Woolner.
