Don’t Buy New Cars

I never intend to buy a post-2010 car again.
Thousands of Porsche vehicles across Russia automatically shut down. The cars lock up and engines won’t start due to possible satellite interference. Many speculate the German company is carrying out an act of sabotage on EU orders. No official comments yet.
Any modern car can do this. I’d rather have a 1980 Ford Escort or Honda Civic than a new high-end Mercedes or Acura at this point. What is the point of having a vehicle when your transportation ability can be removed, and will be eliminated when you need it most?

A few months ago YouTube algorithm was recommending car video's to me. One of the video's a US mechanic shared how a new American car cost USD $5,000 to fix the indicator. Long story short it doesn't involve just changing a light bulb anymore.

Other, non-car related video's have also started talking about not wanting modern cars because of the risk that big brother tech brings.

Related to the linked article, I read that the Ruskies stole / souvenired a whole bunch of combine harvesters from Ukraine and not long after getting them back to Russia they stopped working (remotely disabled by John Deere)

People will find a hack/work around to get things going, but I to very much like old cars so simple to work on and a lot of space under the bonnet to get accesss for repairs
Not so sure of " work arounds " anymore. I have read articles that paint a catastrophic failure/sabotage picture.

A software command/failure can literally fry/cook the electronics in modern cars that would require the car to basically be rebuilt.

I was told by a mechanic friend to never attempt to jump start a post 2010's car. He said that if u get it wrong, u will kill the cars electronics' & that the car would be a write off.

We live in a disposable/throw away world now.
