I'm jus online see that COPPER spiked nearly 10 % overnight AUS time.

Anyone heard any news or whisper as to why such a strong move for usually quietish metal ?

Ahh, found it. TDS. A bit of the usual Trump Derangement. Trump announces he's going to impose a 50% Tariff on ALL Copper imports.

Maybe because I'm just awake & starting my coffee. Should have taken a guess at a Trump Derangement announcement

From my quick check of a few chart, it looks like that is an ATH for Copper.

If the price holds up, there will be some BIG winners & losers' depending on which side of the contract/hedge u are on.
