Last week i went through some of my stuff. I decided to seperate some toned coins, some of which i aquired here, and clean them up. I never had any desire to do this previously , but was curious as to the efficacy. I more or less followed a 'silver slayer'? video on theirtube. Works a farkin treat. I know people talk about the charm of an old toned coin but clinky + extra shiney is great too. I dont get into numismatics yet, possibly i should have left the prospector, but yeah...something very satisfying about cleaning up an old coin. The 2oz kook was filthy.

And hot water, yes. x2 baths, the 1oz kook had black marks on it that i never thought were going to move, not usual black toning but almost like tiny flecks of bitumen but rubbing bicarb between thumb and forefinger works, also cleaned blackened reeded edges (a bit time consuming) i had a toothbrush but hardly used it.
