Vintage photo of a newsagency in Sydney. The photo seems to date from the early 1930s, most likely from the summer of 1932. Scullin is mentioned in one the headlines. The Scullin ministry ran from late 1920 to early 1932. Another headline "Oldfield Sees Doctor" may be referring to the Australian cricketer Oldfield having his skull fractured by a cricket ball bowled by Harold Larwood. This happened in the "Bodyline" Ashes test series of 1932-1933. There is a lot of detail in this photo so I have made a large size available for viewing. Some of the headlines include: "Tomahawk Attack", "City Man Hunt - Exciting Scenes", "My Home of Delight" etc. The doors of the newsagency are adorned with mugshots of Sydney's most wanted.
