This is relating to speeding fines. Some good arguments about tyre pressures, recent repairs in relating to a follow speed check (if a police car follows you and uses their speedometer to verify your speed), and tuning fork calibrations relating to radar guns etc

This is clearly the US but applies much the same. I think the cop just didn't want a bar of it and appreciated the man's demeanor and his oath to the constitution.
