In Chile, a man coping with the recent loss of his dog wandered into a local zoo late at night. After drinking heavily, he reportedly found himself at the gates of the enclosure and somehow managed to gain access. His motivation, he later admitted, was a longing to recreate the comfort he had shared with his dog each night.
Zoo staff discovered him hours later, curled up in the straw among three large bears. He remained largely still, and the police had to carefully wake him. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, and both the man and the animals were unharmed during the unusual encounter.
The incident highlights both the dangers of alcohol-related disorientation and the deep emotional bonds people form with pets. Authorities emphasized the importance of secure enclosures and responsible behavior, noting that zoo animals, while generally non-aggressive under normal conditions, are unpredictable and potentially dangerous to humans.
