I was having a discussion with someone online who was comparing Australia's per capita gun deaths to America's. He brought up a bunch of statistics that on their face looked like a good argument for gun control. But once you break down the statistics you start to get a clear picture of the true story.

As of 2023:

America's gun deaths was 13.7 per 100,000. 7.6 per 100,000 are suicides. More than half of all gun deaths are due to suicide.

Yet the suicide rate from pharmaceutical drug overdoses is 31.3 per 100,000.

A doctor and his script pad is 2.4x more deadly than guns in America.

- The suicide rate is 14.1 per 100,000 in America

- The Suicide rate is 11.8 per 100,000 in Australia.

In Australia, it's allegedly 0.09 gun deaths per 100,000 people.

The suicide rate for pharmaceutical drug overdoses in Australia is 1.7 per 100,000.

That means a doctor and his script pad is 18+ times more deadly than guns in Australia.

It would appear we have a mental health problem, exacerbated by the pharmaceutical industry and their overzealous script enthusiasts, rather than a gun problem in Australia.

Gun deaths are blown way out of Proportion. But dead bodies on the Streets/in Public make great Headlines in MSM. Bondi shootings will be Flogged by MSM until the next hot Story hits their Headlines.

Dead bodies in a house or hospital bed very rarely make the News. If they do make the News, it's 1 headline & then off to the next Story.

It's not the numbers that MSM is interested in, it's the SENSATIONALISM ! :devilish:

No longer is this an immigration policy failure debate, its as predicted a gun debate. As I said in my last post here "you know these shitty Politicians who allowed these pricks in will just use it to punish not those they let in to kill us, but the general public with more restrictions to our freedoms. thats the worst part".

every one getting distracted by gun debate now and ignore the elephant in the room, win win for the government. they get to keep their little extremists in this country, be excused by their failed immigration policy that was on display for the world to see and take more rights away from people
 
Ok. So the rifle being used was a straight pull action rifle. They're legal in Australia - I have one myself. If they push through a bill to restrict access to this type of action, you can pretty much guarantee this was a staged attack to reduce the threat of the population defending itself against something much bigger in the pipeline.

We will have less police maintaining peace and order for all australian people equally,
as their main task australia wide is now to look after one group and defend their
religious order and attack the personal liberties of good gun owner citizens.

So taking into account that we are now a country that is almost completely divided in the political spectrum and is full of either hard leftists and hard right wingers with very few voters in-between any more, I cant see policy Like he is proposing which is a rare thing that both sides would equally hate and agree apon, there is no way that will ever be a vote winner ahaha, and not only that this will 100% make people dislike the Jewish population even more from both sides.

When the Americans were having debates about law abiding citizens carrying concealed weapons one of the argumenst against it was that there'd be shoot outs like the wild wild west. Put aside that shoot outs like the Wild Wild West only occurred in Hollywood, those "fears" never eventuated.

The other gun death statistic that is abused is that people are more likely to shoot someone they know than they don't. Which implies people shooting their relatives by mistake mistaking them for an intruder. Whereas the statistic cited is abuse of the fact that violent criminals know other violent criminals and frequently use that violence against each other. ergo, the slain knew their attacker
